On 23 March 2026, the 3D-4CH Online Competence Centre will host the AI for 3D Digital Twins in Cultural Heritage: Stakeholder Forum under the Apply AI Strategy.

The event will be an opportunity to advance the use of AI for 3D digitisation and reuse, while exploring and showcasing concrete examples of innovation in the field. The Forum will help shape the next generation of AI-driven 3D digital twins in Europe’s cultural sector, strengthening one of the ten key industry sectors identified by the Apply AI Strategy to boost AI adoption and supporting the uptake of technological solutions developed in the EU.

Call for proposals

The organisers are looking for projects to showcase and discuss relevant results under one or more of the following suggested thematic areas:

  • AI for scaling up 3D digitisation & enhancement

AI techniques that accelerate or improve 3D capture workflows, enhance legacy models, or scale digitisation pipelines.

  • AI for semantic enrichment & segmentation

AI methods for automatic segmentation, metadata extraction, and semantic labelling of 3D models.

  • AI for data visualisation, interpretation, narrative creation and reuse

AI approaches that analyse, classify, visualise or interpret cultural heritage data and scenes, supporting decision-making processes and enabling the reuse and creation of new narratives and contextual understandings.

Additional AI-related topics relevant to 3D cultural heritage are also welcome, even if they do not fully align with the three suggested themes.

The Programme

The opening session will frame the event within the Apply AI Strategy and the action supporting the uptake and scaling of AI technologies for highly realistic and accurate 3D Digital Twins of cultural sites and artefacts. The Commission will outline policy priorities and expected impact, followed by a presentation of the role of 3D-4CH within this framework.
