Call Background

This topic aims to accelerate the adoption and deployment of cloud-based AI systems running European AI algorithms for medical image screening, with a focus on the early detection and diagnosis of cancer and cardiovascular diseases.

Two projects will be funded under this call for proposals. These projects will pilot the deployment of cloud-based AI systems to:

  • Improve efficiency in detection and diagnostic workflows in the areas of cancer and/or cardiovascular diseases
  • Support the prioritisation of critical cases
  • Reduce pressure on radiology services
  • Contribute to more equitable access to screening services, including in underserved regions

This topic contributes to the Apply AI strategy. In particular, the flagship initiative European AI-powered advanced screening centres, which will speed up the introduction of innovative AI solutions for disease prevention, early detection and diagnosis, and support Europe’s fight against cancer and cardiovascular diseases.
