In February 2022, European Commissioner for Internal Market Thierry Breton and Singapore Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations S Iswaran agreed to accelerate steps towards the Digital Partnership, by commencing discussions to scope its content and processes. The joint statement can be found here.
The Digital Partnership seeks to provide an overarching framework to strengthen digital connectivity and interoperability between the digital markets of the EU and Singapore. It aims to advance cooperation on the full spectrum of digital issues, including digital trade and emerging technologies, to maximise the benefits of the digital economy for our businesses and communities.
Through this outreach session, the EU’s Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CONNECT) as well as Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) and Ministry of Communication and Information (MCI) will be sharing more details on the EU and Singapore’s plans for the Digital Partnership. This will also be an opportunity for businesses to share your views on how the Digital Partnership can be designed to benefit our businesses and communities.
