Challenges

Developments in key and emerging technologies are changing the way we define digital skills and the extent to which we depend on technology. Europe has a significant and systemic gap between market needs and what is offered in terms of skills related to advanced digital technologies.

  • 62.8% of companies trying to recruit ICT specialists find it ‘difficult’.
  • 65% of workers have digital skills which are “basic or above basic” and only 34% have “above basic” overall digital skills.
  • Only 1 in 5 enterprises provided ICT training to their workers.

“I found the Data Governance and Privacy event to be very informative and insightful. Bringing together both sides of business from multinational perspectives and the SME perspective was a great way of showing that this subject is important for all businesses, regardless of size.”
