The study will also support the Commission’s report on the application of the AVMSD provisions concerning the promotion of European works.
The study will have five specific objectives:
- Provide the Commission with information and data about the application of the Directive, in particular in the aforementioned areas, in light of the developments of the EU audiovisual market, notably its increasing digitalisation;
- Provide the Commission with an objective quantitative and qualitative assessment of the Directive’s implementation, looking particularly at the most significant issues;
- With regard to Articles 13, 16 and 17, provide the Commission with information and data required for the monitoring of and reporting on the implementation of the AVMSD rules for the promotion of European works, including independent productions;
- Identify, where justified by the above assessment, possible regulatory updates/amendments to the Directive that could bring an improvement to its application and/or to the achievement of its objectives;
- Identify and impact-assess the policy options proposed to the Commission to implement the above identified regulatory updates/amendments.
