Commission launches call for the continuation of the European Digital Media Observatory

The European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO) is a multidisciplinary community, serving as a collaborative platform for fact-checkers, researchers and media literacy experts.

Under this call for tenders of up to €2.56 million, EDMO should focus on and further develop its activities related to monitoring and analysing the online information environment, as well as detect and expose disinformation campaigns, with the aim of contributing to situational awareness across the EU. Its work should also focus on contributing to election integrity and increasing societal resilience.

The April 2018 Commission Communication “Tackling online disinformation – A European approach” has developed a strategy to limit the impact of online disinformation while fully upholding the freedom of speech and other fundamental rights. EDMO has been one of the key pillars of this strategy and multi-stakeholder approach and has been playing, since 2020, an important role in supporting a community of more than 100 organisations in Europe.

EDMO and the EDMO hubs are independent from any national or EU public authority with a governance structure to ensure editorial independence. They adhere to the highest ethical and professional standards for fact-checkers' work and independence.

Visit the Funding & Tenders Portal for more details on the call. Any request for additional information must be made in writing only through the portal in the “Questions and answers (Q&A)” section (registration on EU Funding & Tenders portal is required to be able to create and submit a question).

Economic operators interested in this contract are invited to submit a tender by 15 September 2025, 16:00 (CEST).
