The Next Generation Internet initiative (NGI) aims to build the key technology building blocks of the internet of tomorrow and shape its development towards an internet of humans. An internet that responds to our fundamental needs, including trust, security and inclusion, and in general reflects the values and the norms that we enjoy in our societies.

Next Generation Internet is a bottom-up initiative intending to mobilise impactful talents to drive the evolution of the internet towards values that unite Europeans in terms of privacy protection, transparency, collaboration across borders, inclusiveness, decentralisation and openness. These open calls intend to translate these values into an internet that Europeans and the world can trust enabling users’ control and diversity of choices, alternative business models, transparency, removing asymmetry when interacting with digital players, fighting digital fake and promoting digital authenticity.

These open calls offer funding opportunities for cutting-edge Research and Innovation directly supporting internet innovators, from individual researchers, to developers, to start-ups and hi-tech SMEs.
