Since 2007, EU-funded startups have received €12 billion in EU funding and have gone on to create over €500 billion of enterprise value.

The report "Startups Backed by the EU’s Framework Programmes" reveals that EU backed startups have been successful in raising €70 billion of venture capital – six times the initial EU funding received. This has propelled them to market success ‘beyond the lab’ in cutting-edge technology such as AI, space tech, medtech, biotech, and climate tech.

The analysis outlined in the report will be discussed at the VentureBridge event in Barcelona on 7 March 2025. The in-person event features a keynote, panel discussion as well as pitches from a select number of EU-funded startups developing  cutting-edge tech. Registration for the event is open and free.

In addition to funding opportunities, the Commission runs the Startup Europe initiative, bringing together a series of networking focused actions to support the EU startup scene. The Commission is currently in the process of developing a Startup and Scaleup Strategy which will be adopted in 2025.
