With close to half of its population under the age of 30, Kosovo has prioritised and succeeded in bringing high-speed broadband access to its entire territory. Through its ‘Digital Economy’ project, Kosovo achieved 99.8% broadband penetration, bringing fibre connectivity to every village in the country, as well as 105 schools and 43 healthcare institutions. Now that rural areas are so well connected, people are starting to relocate from urban areas.
“Building digital infrastructure means that people have access to information and more economic opportunities. This is all very important for an overarching goal of our government, which is to provide equal opportunities to all citizens, and to improve socio-economic equality and equity in our society.” – Artane Rizvanolli, Minister of Economy, Republic of Kosovo
