VR/AR Industrial Coalition: EU VR/AR competitiveness & unique value proposition

The VR/AR Industrial coalition met for a third time to discuss competitiveness and unique value proposition

As announced in the Commission’s Media and Audiovisual Action Plan, the Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality (VR/AR) Industrial Coalition is organising workshops with stakeholders from November 2021 to February 2022.

Report of the third workshop: 25 participants from different sectors of the VR/AR industry and parts of the value chain got together to discuss the EU VR/AR competitiveness and its unique value proposition. Many areas for intervention to ensure EU competitiveness were discussed, highlighting which actors are best placed to take action between the industry and policymakers. The following priorities were identified: Policy -	Increase and unlock possibilities for strategic investments -	Ensure the safety, security, and openness of the European digital space Industry -	Develop more interoperable solutions across EU and industrial sectors -	Play an increasing role in the development of state of-the-art hardware and platforms -	Proactively educate the future workforce and nurture digital, creative, and business skills -	Advance the deployment of necessary infrastructure and enabling technologies Common -	Continue producing innovative and high-quality applications -	Expand the potential user base by improving VR/AR literacy and reaching out to new audiences

During the third workshop 25 participants across different sectors of the VR/AR industry identified the different areas for intervention that the industry and policymakers should work on to ensure EU competitiveness, as highlighted in the summary report.
