Study on the implementation of the new provisions in the revised Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD)

The study focuses on three areas, corresponding to regulatory novelties of the revised Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD): video-sharing platforms (VSPs) media ownership rules and
transparency, and overlays in audiovisual media services. For these areas, the study analyses market developments, business practices and technical approaches as well as legislative trends, including
co- and self-regulatory initiatives. It covers the EU Member States and the UK, and includes case studies from Canada and the US (Study reference: SMART 2018/006)

2021 Work Plan Summary of the European Broadband Competence Offices Network Support Facility

2021 is the final year of the first phase of the BCO Network: the European Commission initiative to support Member States to reach the connectivity targets and ensure high-speed broadband access for all citizens. The work plan for this year will seek to reinforce and expand the capacity of European BCOs to meet these objectives, while increasing recognition of their mandate within their national contexts, and strengthening their collaborative relationship with the European Commission.

Living-in.eu movement - 4th plenary meeting with signatories

With more than 60 participants, the fourth plenary meeting of the Living-in.eu movement took place on the 19th January 2021. Chaired by Eddy Hartog, the meeting focused on the development of a Local and Regional Digital Indicators Framework (LORDI).

Study: Cloud Security for Healthcare Services

The European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) published the Cloud Security for Healthcare Services report, which provides cybersecurity guidelines for healthcare organisations to help further digitalise with cloud services. Building on ENISA’s procurement guidelines for cybersecurity in hospitals, published early last year, this new report assesses the cybersecurity risks of cloud services and offers good practices for their secure integration into the European healthcare sector.

CONVERGENCE: when the legislation and the four pilots converged

In 2019 the European Union funded four innovative projects to pilot the proposed legislation on a European cybersecurity competence centre and network of cybersecurity expertise. As the legislation edged ever closer to approval by the European Parliament, the four pilot projects, CyberSec4Europe, SPARTA, CONCORDIA and ECHO, organised for the first time a single online collaborative event, CONVERGENCE, from 9-11 December, that highlighted the joint progress made and brought together the most important personalities and organisations addressing cybersecurity in Europe.

Know CEF Telecom inside out with this new brochure

The Innovation & Networks Executive Agency (INEA) has published a new CEF Telecom brochure which presents an overview of the actions co-funded by CEF Telecom until the end of November 2020, including the status of each specific Digital Service Infrastructure (DSI) and a breakdown by country. Over the last seven years (2014-2020), 74 calls for proposals have been published awarding, so far, €308 million to 571 projects. The brochure also covers the WiFi4EU initiative which has distributed more than 8,800 vouchers between 2018 and 2020.

Mobile and fixed broadband prices in Europe at the end of 2019

The study reviews 2019 retail prices of fixed and mobile broadband offers for consumers in the 27 EU States and the UK, Iceland, Norway, Japan, South Korea and the USA. For the first time, data for both fixed and mobile broadband offers was collected during the same monitoring period, from 7 to 20 October 2019.
