These nominated films have received over €1.6 million in funding from the MEDIA strand of the Creative Europe programme.

One of the EU-supported films, the Argentine-Spanish film ‘El mensaje’, has been shortlisted in the competition category for the festival’s prestigious Golden and Silver Bears. The full list of award winners will be announced during the Berlinale closing ceremony on 23 February.

As in previous years, the Commission is actively participating in the European Film Market, running in parallel with the Berlinale. Together, the festival and market are regarded as one of the most significant meeting points for the international film and media industries.

On 15 February, the Commission will host a panel discussion: ‘How the EU Audiovisual industry can compete for the attention of young Europeans’, focusing on the media habits of young consumers in the EU. Additionally, there will be information sessions on opportunities available under the Creative Europe MEDIA programme during the festival.
