Building a new quantum computer in Europe

VTT (Technical Research Centre of Finland) and IQM have signed an agreement to collaborate in building Finland’s first quantum computer.

The project will be based in Espoo, Finland at VTT’s and Aalto University’s joint national research infrastructure Micronova. VTT and IQM will begin work this year, with a view to making a 50-qubit machine available by 2024. At the same time, VTT will continue its activities in other promising areas in quantum technologies, including quantum sensing and quantum encryption.
