EU Code Week launches hackathons for teenagers in six countries

In 2021, EU Code Week brings six extraordinary hackathons to Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Romania and Slovenia. In these countries, Code Week invites upper secondary school students to form teams and use their coding skills to solve a local challenge.

The EU Code Week hackathons are journeys that kick off with a 24-hour online hackathon in April or May. Experienced mentors will coach the teams and there will be opportunities for participants to learn new skills and have fun. Each team will present their design or prototype to a Jury, who selects 10 teams who will continue their journey over the summer developing their idea, taking part in trainings and getting advice from their mentor.

In the autumn, the teams will battle it out in a physical event where the winner will win IT equipment and a chance of further mentoring and coaching by experts. The winner in each country will also be invited to pitch their hack to a jury in Brussels during Code Week 9-24 October 2021.
