Executive Vice-President Virkkunen visits the semiconductor equipment manufacturer ASML

The Executive Vice-President Virkkunen is visiting ASML, the semiconductor equipment manufacturer, in the Netherlands to discuss the European semiconductor ecosystem, the upcoming review of the Chips Act and to highlight the EU’s partnership with one of its leading technology companies.

She will meet the company's President and Chief Executive Officer, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, and Executive Vice-President for Global Public Affairs and General Manager for ASML Netherlands.  

Coupled with the AI Continent Action plan and making Europe a leader in Artificial Intelligence (AI), securing a domestic supply of semiconductors is crucial. Advanced microchips are the key building blocks of AI systems. The Commission is working on making the EU an attractive investment environment and creating advanced regulatory framework through the EU Chips Act.
