Extension of installation period for all WiFi4EU beneficiaries

Given the confinement and social distancing measures still in place in several Member States, the European Commission has decided to grant an extension of the installation period to all WIFi4EU beneficiaries in order to allow every concerned municipality to complete their projects.

In view of COVID-19 containment measures still affecting municipalities and regions across Europe, the Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA) in agreement with the European Commission, has decided to further mitigate the impact on the deployment of WiFi4EU networks.

In this enduring difficult situation, we would like to continue to support beneficiaries in the WiFi4EU implementation process. As a result, the implementation period is prolonged by 6 months for all beneficiaries of all 4 WiFi4EU calls. This should allow every concerned municipality to complete their projects, i.e. the Wi-Fi installation company to submit the installation reports and for municipalities to approve the reports in the WiFi4EU Portal.

In these exceptional circumstances, we trust this measure will help municipalities to complete their WiF4EU networks, which will benefit local communities and citizens across Europe.
