International cooperation: EU, Japan and the US in joint cybersecurity training

The EU, US and Japan organised a week-long cybersecurity training for experts from partner countries in the Indo-Pacific region from March 8th to 12th.

This exercise follows the latest in a successful series of dialogues on digital policies between Japan and the EU, held at the end of February that resulted in an agreement to deepen cooperation on issues such as platform regulation and industrial research. Japan and the EU are close partners in promoting the most advanced cybersecurity practices to other countries, and are collaborating on other issues, such as advancing a human-centred digital transformation and setting standards at the global level.

The training programme has been developed over the past year as the first digital output of the EU-Japan Connectivity Partnership and was a part of a Cybersecurity Week that covers security of devices, systems, networks, and controls used in industrial processes. On the European side, experts from the European Commission’s Directorate‑General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology and EU’s Agency for Cybersecurity participated.
