The projects FLOODS & DROUGHTS, EUNOMIA.AI and EuropAI have signed their grant agreements on 1 July 2026. Selected under the Digital Europe Programme call “GenAI for the public administrations”, these projects will pilot trustworthy European GenAI solutions addressing concrete needs of public authorities and citizens. The European solutions will be procured directly by the public administrations participating in the consortia. Once the projects are fully operational, the participating entities will launch procurement procedures at national level to acquire, test and deploy solutions adapted to their public-service needs. The pilots contribute to the objectives of the Apply AI Strategy, which aims to accelerate the responsible adoption of AI across strategic sectors, including the public sector. By bringing together public administrations, research organisations and technology providers from across Europe, the projects will demonstrate how GenAI can enhance decision-making, optimise internal processes, improve accessibility, and simplify bureaucratic procedures.
Through their direct involvement in procurement, testing and deployment, the participating public administrations will help shape solutions that are interoperable and adapted to European legal, operational and societal requirements. The solutions, methodologies and implementation models developed by the pilots are intended to be scalable and replicable by other public administrations across Europe.
