Important transport routes
The county road network in Troms and Finnmark are important transport routes for both people and businesses. The challenge is that about 10 per cent of the road network has a road width that does not meet the road standard requirements that two large vehicles have room to meet.
Bottlenecks and traffic safety
When large vehicles meet in narrow tunnels, one vehicle often has to back up, where the maneuvering can cause damage to both the tunnel and the vehicle. In steep climbs with confusing curvature, it is challenging to see oncoming traffic, often vehicles meet on the narrowest sections - of which vehicles have to stop. In winter-prone and slippery sections, large vehicles are unable to take off again, dangerous traffic situations arise at these bottlenecks and the food transport risks lost values in the form of delays on the road network.
Looking for smart solutions
Troms and Finnmark county municipalities want to challenge the market to develop smart solutions that improve accessibility and increase traffic safety along our roads, so that vehicles do not meet where there is no space. The county municipality has received NOK 9.7 million in grant funds from Troms Holding AS, for the development of a solution for sections in the geographical area of Troms.
What is the aim of the market dialogue?
You are invited to a market dialogue, with a dialogue conference and one-on-one meetings, to inform about the project. The purpose of this is to increase the understanding of our needs, as well as get input on the implementation of the pre-commercial procurement.
A dialogue is desired with possible suppliers or consortia within sensor technology, R&D suppliers, the transport sector, ICT and other relevant disciplines, which can develop smart solutions so that vehicles do not meet where there is no space.
Aim is also to facilitate that suppliers can discuss possible collaborations with each other to form consortia, in order to offer a comprehensive solution.
What is the scope of the dialogue?
Through market dialogue, we want to:
- inform the market about the project and the need we want solved
- inform about the implementation of the project as a pre-commercial procurement
- get input from the market about competition rules, award criteria and weighting, as well as finances and schedule for the various phases of the development process
- explore what possible solutions the market can envision
- assess profit and market potential
- discuss what challenges the market sees and what suppliers need to develop a smart solution
