Zoe Saldaña’s performance in Emilia Pérez earned her the Best Supporting Actress award, with the movie also winning the Oscar for Best Original Song (El Mal). The award for the Best Animated Feature Film went to Flow. Meanwhile, No Other Land won the Documentary Feature Film award.

Henna Virkkunen, Executive Vice-President for Tech Sovereignty, Security and Democracy, said:

“The success of EU funded films at the Oscars this year is a testament to the creativity and incredible talent in European cinema. We are proud to see our film makers and creative talents receive the recognition they deserve on the global stage with these prizes emphasising the importance of our continued support for the creative industries. Congratulations to all the winners and nominees.”

In total, the EU supported the development and international distribution of the winning films with an investment of over €970,000 through the Creative Europe MEDIA programme. Six MEDIA-supported films were nominated for a total of 19 awards in this year’s edition of the Oscars, including landmark categories such as Best Director, Best Picture, Best Actress and Best International Feature Film.
