President von der Leyen and Executive Vice-Presidents Virkkunen and Séjourné attend Artificial Intelligence Action Summit in Paris to support sustainable innovation

President Ursula von der Leyen, Executive Vice-President for Tech Sovereignty, Security and Democracy, Henna Virkkunen, and Executive Vice-President for Prosperity and Industrial Strategy, Stéphane Séjourné will attend the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Summit on Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 February in Paris, France.

On Monday, President von der Leyen and Executive Vice-Presidents Virkkunen and Séjourné will attend a multilateral meeting with European Heads of State and Government and CEOs, hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron at the Palais de l’Elysée. Later in the evening, President von der Leyen will participate in a working dinner hosted by President Macron, providing further opportunities for dialogue among global leaders. Earlier in the day, Executive Vice-President Virkkunen will speak at two sessions coordinated by the European AI Office: a panel on ‘Future-proofing trustworthy AI governance with an update on the EU Codes of Practice’ and a workshop on ‘Building the EU AI Continent: AI Champions and AI Factories’.

On Tuesday morning, President von der Leyen will address the summit’s closing session. Executive Vice-President Virkkunen will visit Station F, the largest European incubator, and deliver a speech highlighting Europe’s assets to lead in trustworthy AI, from top talent and world-class supercomputers to innovative start-ups robust infrastructure. She will also hold bilateral meetings with ministers and AI business leaders.

The summit will be hosted by France with India co-chairing the event. It will bring together Prime Ministers, Heads of State, technology leaders, and key stakeholders from around the world to discuss global AI governance and innovation. Hosted by France and building on past AI safety summits (Bletchley Park, Seoul) and global initiatives, the Summit aims to build global consensus on an ethical approach to developing AI while ensuring that innovation can flourish and putting an emphasis on AI for the public good.
