Research project SOI-HITS wins the Innovation Award Competition for FP7 Participants

The project developed a system that can measure concentrations of oxygen, carbon monoxide, temperature and moisture in a package that has been shown to operate long term in 225 degrees Celsius. This could make the domestic boilers more energy efficient.

The European Commission launched the Innovation Award Competition in the context of the European Nanoelectronics Forum.   The competition was open to any participant or group of participants in a FP7 project from the area of "Micro/Nano Electronics" or "Smart System Integration".

SOI-HITS was selected among 17 applicants.

'It is the first time that we decided to provide such an award and we are delighted with the high quality applications we received. It was not easy to choose the winner, as the competition was really tough and many applications raised the enthusiasm of the selection committee", said Willy Van Puymbroeck, Head of Unit in Components at the European Commission's  DG Connect.
