Organisation of three Seminars for National Judges specialised in Electronic Communications Law

The Commission intends to outsource the organisation of the 15th, 16th and of the 17th Seminars for national judges, which are expected to take place in December 2021, 2022 and 2023 (the dates being indicative and subject to change depending on external circumstances, such as the COVID-19 epidemic). The one day and a half seminars are addressed to national judges, specialised in Electronic Communications Law, 2 per EU Member State. The seminars should also be attended by representatives of the National Regulatory Authorities of the EU Member States.

Recommendation on Relevant Markets

In line with the European Electronic Communications Code, the European Commission has to Review the Recommendation on relevant product and service markets within the electronic communication sector by 21 December 2020 and regularly thereafter.

Annual country reports on Open Internet from national regulatory authorities - 2020

The European Commission has published the annual country reports from National Regulatory Authorities (NRAs) on compliance with the provisions on open internet for the fourth consecutive year. The NRA reports are provided every year to the Commission and the Body of the European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC). The fourth set of reports covers the timeframe from 1 May 2019 until 30 April 2020.

Commission blocks Swedish regulation of fibre networks, requesting detailed analysis of geographic markets

Following a two-month in-depth investigation, the European Commission issued a veto decision today, blocking Swedish regulator, PTS, from adopting its market review decision. With this decision, the Commission objects to PTS’s finding of a national market for wholesale local access to fibre networks, concluded by PTS despite very significant variations in competitive conditions across Sweden.
