Professor Tom Sorell (University of Warwick) and Professor Heather Draper (University of Birmingham) have developped an ethical framework for companion robotics in the context of the ACCOMPANY project. The objective of Robolution Capital, the first investment fund exclusively dedicated to service
robotics, is to make an active contribution to the development of the industry on the
European continent by investing in companies specialized both in domestic and professional
service robotics.
The fund has received support from the European Investment Fund, among other public and private investors.

Results from research building on the outcomes of previous FET projects CYBERHAND and NEUROBOTICS has recently featured in many news bulletins. Prof. Silvestro Micera (Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, Pisa and École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) and his colleagues in the Lifehand2 project have published the results of a clinical trial in which a patient whose hand had been amputated was able to regain a sense of touch using an artificial hand.

The Public Private Partnership in robotics (PPP) is the teaming up of the robotics industry, research, academia and the European Commission to launch a joint research, development and innovation programme in order to strengthen the competitive position of European robotics.
