Call for Proposals in the field of data-driven news production

The European Commission is launching a third call for proposals in the field of data-driven news production. Applicants are invited to submit proposals to increase reporting on European issues from pan-European viewpoints and/or by comparing different viewpoints from within Europe, using data-driven techniques.

Launch of three projects to strengthen independent news production around European affairs

Following an open Call for Proposals in 2018, three media consortia will receive support to enrich coverage around EU affairs from multiple perspectives. Concretely the support is given for the production and dissemination of information and content, while respecting complete editorial independence. Two consortia (the European Data News Hub and the European Data Journalism Network) will expand existing projects with new partners. The third project gathers European newspapers.

Applicants are invited to submit proposals to increase reporting on European issues from pan-European viewpoints and/or by comparing different viewpoints from within Europe, using data-driven techniques.

Public consultation on fake news and online disinformation

The consultation will collect views from all parties concerned by fake news across the EU as regard the scope of the problem and the effectiveness of voluntary measures already put in place by industry to prevent the spread of disinformation online. The objective is also to better understand the rationale and possible directions for action at EU and/or national level.

Launch of two new projects to increase independent news production around EU affairs

Following an open Call for Proposals in 2016, two media consortia will receive support to inform Europeans on EU affairs from a pan-European point of view i.e. showing more than only a national perspective, by making innovative use of data-driven techniques. Support is given for the production and dissemination of information and content, while respecting complete editorial independence.The websites will be available in June (European Data News Hub) and in October (European Data Journalism Network), free of charge.
