Four are shortlisted for the prestigious ‘Orizzonti competition’: ‘Victim’ by Michal Blaško, ‘Innocence’ by Guy Davidi, ‘To the North’ by Mihai Mincan, and ‘The Happiest Man in the World’ by Teona Strugar Mitevska. Four more have been selected for the independent section ‘Giornate degli Autori’ held in parallel to the festival, and another one will be showcased in the ‘Out of Competition’ section. These films have been supported by the MEDIA strand of the Creative Europe programme in their development. The winners of this year's festival will be announced on Saturday 10 September during the closing ceremony. Additionally, the Commission will host three events under the theme ‘Europe in Focus’. On Saturday 3 September, a panel will be organised on ‘Virtual and Augmented Reality in Europe: A Flourishing Content Ecosystem’, during which the strategic paper on Virtual and Augmented Reality in Europe will be published and presented. Resulting from the Virtual and Augmented Reality Industrial Coalition, the paper gives insights into the opportunities and challenges for VR/AR in Europe.
