EOSC champions research data management to guarantee scientists’ access to data-driven science.
The European Open Science Cloud aims to achieve a federation of infrastructures providing seamless access to interoperable research objects and value-added services for the whole research data cycle, from discovery and mining to storage, management, analysis and re-use across borders and scientific disciplines.
The public procurement action is to build and deploy a fully operational enabling infrastructure for EOSC, providing access to a rich portfolio of FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data and professional quality FAIR services in all relevant domains from data handling to computing, processing, analysis and storing.
An EOSC Procurement Factsheet has been produced to summarize the key aspects of the public procurement action funded from the Research Infrastructures Work Programme 2021-2022 of the Horizon Europe programme.
Open Market Consultation Webinars
With the publication of the Prior Information Notice on 4 May 2022, the European Commission invites potential market players from industry and the research community to participate in the preliminary market consultation for the upcoming European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) procurement. During the open market consultation from May until 5 August 2022, the Commission seeks, in particular, feedback on the procurement approaches, technical challenges and possible solutions.
The European Commission organized two preliminary market consultation webinars on Tuesday, 31 May and on Thursday, 9 June 2022. The video recordings and the slides of the Commission’s presentations are publicly available on the links below:
- EOSC Policy Background by Stephan Siemen, Policy Officer, DG CNECT Unit C.1 (slides)
- EOSC Public Procurement Action by Peter Szegedi, Programme Officer, DG CNECT Unit C.1 (slides)
The consolidated outcome of the survey polls and questionnaires as well as the summary of the open question and answer dialogues are available in this report.
Based on the feedback analysis of the open consultation webinars, the Commission is going to decide whether or not more consultation sessions or other instruments are needed in order gather the necessary input for the procurement preparations.
The EOSC procurement functional mailbox is openly available to provide written comments, contribution, feedback, clarifications, examples, use cases or any other input to the procurement preparations.
