The Agridataspace Coordination and Support Action has successfully concluded its 18-month activities and has delivered its recommendations for CEADS. This milestone will be followed by a deployment action, featuring a dedicated open call for proposals under the Digital Europe Programme.

The consortium recommended a decentralised approach that puts the interests of farmers at its core. It suggested constructing the data space under consideration from over 400 already existing data sharing initiatives mapped across European countries.

The recommendations were presented at the AgriDataSpace concluding event on the 25 April 2024.

The AgriDataSpace project was designed to establish the groundwork for a Common European Agricultural data space (CEADS). It facilitates data sharing, processing, and analysis in a secured, trusted, transparent and responsible manner. This is to boost the sector’s performance and stimulate data-driven innovations.

The project received €2 million in funding from the Digital Europe Programme. It involved 15 partners, including top research institutes, agriculture data intermediaries and industry associations from 10 countries that are deeply integrated in the EU data space ecosystem.

In close interaction with stakeholder groups and employing a participatory approach, the consortium mapped the current data space landscape, recording experiences with data sharing. They analysed and assessed governance and business models and evolving legislation, and defined a technical reference architecture. These elements were integrated into a roadmap that consolidates all necessary requirements and actions into a comprehensive strategy for implementing the Common European Agricultural Data Space.
