The goal of SID is to raise awareness but also to help by concrete actions to create not only a safe place but also a better place to be when being online. In order to achieve this goal SID offers the possibility for children, young students, teachers, parents, industry, policy makers, decision takers and other stakeholders to co-create better Internet.

This year's Safer Internet Day celebrations are taking place on Tuesday, 6 February 2018. The 2018 theme, "Create, connect and share respect: A better internet starts with you" is a call to action for every stakeholder to play their part in creating a better internet for everyone, in particular the youngest users. More than that, it is an invitation for everyone to join in and engage with others in a respectful way in order to ensure a better digital experience.

2017 year's slogan "Be the change: Unite for a better internet" emphasized the importance of collaboration and unity. The celebrations took place on February 7.

Safer Internet Day 2016 encouraged each of us playing our own part - in other words taking the responsibility in our own hands.

The Safer Internet Day 2015 promoted the collaborative approach of all stakeholders - "Let's create better Internet together".
