People in the EU are growing older and older. That puts severe pressure on our healthcare systems, and because of that, this study (published 2008) examines if it is true that the use of ICT contributes significantly to keeping care related costs manageable, and also influences the economy through the creation of new market opportunities.

A new initiative 'Northern eDimension' was launched by the Council of the Baltic sea and the European Commission at a meeting of the European Union foreign ministers and high level representatives from seven partner countries on 9 April, with the aim to exploit the IT potential of the region.
