13 EU-supported films competing at the 2023 European Film Awards

The 36th edition of the European Film Awards is taking place tomorrow in Berlin, celebrating the richness and diversity of European cinema.

Thirteen EU-funded films were nominated this year, accounting for 17 of nominations spread across 10 categories, including: Me Captain (Io Capitano) by Matteo Garrone for the European Film and European Director awards, The Promised Land (Bastarden) by Nikolaj Arcel for European Cinematography and European Costume Design, as well as Mads Mikkelsen for European Actor for his role in it. Additionally, four EU-supported works were nominated for the European Animated Feature Film award, and another four for European Documentary. 

The support for the development or distribution of the films was provided by the EU's Creative Europe MEDIA Programme.

The winners will be announced during the Award Ceremony on 9 December 2023.
