Shaping Europe’s digital future

A bright future for the next 3 years of H2020 Photonics calls

  • EVENT REPORT
  • Offentliggørelse 08 Januar 2018

The next calls for Photonics topics, published in the Horizon 2020 Work Programme for 2018-20, were presented during the Info Day that took place on the 8th December 2017. The aim is to maintain and develop the prominent position that European Photonics research and industry have at international level. Also, these final 3 years of H2020 will see further support to core ICT industries as envisaged in the roadmap devised within the Photonics contractual Public Private Partnership (cPPP).

The calls for 2018 and 2019 were presented in detail, while less information is available for those in WP 2020. Photonics topics include four new manufacturing pilot lines for photonics components and devices, two in 2018 and two in 2019, following the successful launch the previous endeavours. In 2018 calls are open for Innovation Actions and Research and Innovation Actions for photonics based manufacturingdatacom photonics and connected lighting.  In 2019 the focus will be on application driven photonics components, in biophotonics (therapy monitoring), digital manufacturing with sensor driven process optimization and Photonics System on Chip/System in Package for optical interconnect applications. A Coordination and Support Action will be Fostering careers in photonics. In 2020 a call will be launched for Photonics Innovation Hubs, "disruptive photonics technologies" and "advancing photonics technologies and application drive photonics components and the innovation ecosystem".

The presentations given about the next photonics calls in H2020, the lessons learnt during the past years for Pilot Line project and for all other actions can be downloaded via the links below.
