DT4Regions and Living-in.eu joint scope survey for Regions and Cities

The joint DT4REGIONS and Living-in.eu survey aims to scope the needs of regions and cities in terms of mutual learning regarding digital transformation initiatives and processes. The results of the survey will help identify the types of organisations that should be included in the ‘on boarding’ process for a successful digital transformation at regional and local level and what kind of services should be offered within our joint Capacity Building Programme. The survey will remain open until the 4 February 2022.

Public consultation on the Data Act

The objective of the Data Act is to propose measures to create a fair data economy by ensuring access to and use of data, including in business-to-business and business-to-government situations. The initiative would not alter data protection legislation and would seek to preserve incentives in data generation. Under this initiative, a review of Directive 96/9/EC on the legal protection of databases is also planned in order to ensure continued relevance for the data economy. Public consultation on a set of European Digital Principles

As a follow-up to its Digital Decade Communication of 9 March, the Commission launched a public consultation on the formulation of a set of digital principles to promote and uphold EU values in the digital space. This consultation, open until 2 September 2021, seeks to open a wide societal debate and gather views from citizens, non-governmental and civil society organisations, businesses, administrations and all interested parties. These principles will guide the EU and Member States in designing digital rules and regulations that deliver the benefits of digitalisation for all citizens.

Targeted consultation on the availability of works other than printed works in formats accessible for persons with disabilities within the internal market

The purpose of this targeted consultation is to collect information and data on the availability of certain copyright protected works, in particular works other than printed works (e.g.films, photos or music), to persons with disabilities. The Commission is carrying out this exercise as part of the preparation for a report foreseen by Article 9 of the ‘Marrakesh’ Directive (EU)2017/1564. The consultation is targeted at persons with disabilities and organisations acting on their behalf, rightholders, content producers, distributors, service providers, broadcasters and educational institutions.

Fair Taxation: Commission launches a public consultation on the digital levy

The European Commission has launched a public consultation on a new digital levy. This initiative aims to ensure fair taxation in the digital economy, while at the same time contributing to Europe’s recovery. Fair taxation and ensuring that Europe is fit for the Digital Age are top priorities for the European Commission, as stated by President von der Leyen in her Political Guidelines.
