The Apply AI Strategy is part of President von der Leyen’s Political Guidelines to make Europe a global leader in AI innovation. The Strategy will serve as a blueprint for the full adoption of AI in EU strategic sectors, leading to the strengthening of the AI Continent.
In particular, the Apply AI Strategy aims to enable European companies to be global AI front-runners, increase the quality of services in the public sector, and foster the integration of AI technologies into strategic sectors. These sectors include: advanced manufacturing; aerospace; security and defence; agri-food; energy; environment and climate; mobility and automotive; pharmaceutical; biotechnology; robotics; electronic communications; advanced material design; and cultural and creative industries.
Serving as the EU’s overarching AI Strategy, the Apply AI Strategy will establish links to the European Strategy for AI in Science, which will be adopted at the same time. Specific consultation activities for the Strategy for AI in Science will be launched on Thursday 10 April.
The AI Office invites stakeholders, including industry, civil society, public authorities and others, to submit their input through the public consultation. This will help to identify priorities, current challenges to the uptake of AI in specific sectors as well as potential solutions and policy approaches. The consultation also includes specific questions on the challenges in the AI Act implementation process and how the Commission and Member States can support stakeholders better in the implementation of the legislation.
In parallel to the consultation, the European AI Office will hold structured dialogues with industry representatives and gather insights from Member States.
Participants can find out more about the Apply AI Strategy consultation on the Have your say portal. This consultation will remain open for 8 weeks: from April 9 until 4 June 2025.
