Vice President Kroes will attend the Transport and Telecoms Council in Luxembourg on Friday 6 June, where she will welcome good progress on the Telecoms Single Market (TSM) regulation. This regulation will see the end of roaming charges in the EU, it will improve consumer rights for mobile and broadband contracts, and it will guarantee an open and free internet. She will also press Member States to commit to finalising the Network and Information Security (NIS) directive, which will make ICT networks more secure against cyber-attacks, and will see better coordination and sharing of information

Researchers are using smartphones and tablet computers to transform classrooms across Europe.

The EU-funded iTEC project – the largest of its kind in Europe – has already run pilots in 2 000 classrooms across 17 countries to help teachers to integrate technology into the way they teach.

Nearly a quarter of Europe’s adults under 25 are not in education, employment or training. These so-called NEETs are struggling to get on the first step of the employment ladder in this harsh economic climate. Young adults say that they need more confidence to get through job interviews but, with opportunities so scarce, they often go into interviews feeling nervous and underprepared. Now an EU-funded research project that uses virtual reality is helping to change that.

The H2020 Information Day 'Innovation and Public sector' was held on 10 February 2014 in Brussels. The aim of the Info Day was to explain topics related to ICT-enabled public sector innovation in H2020 (in SC6, SC7 and LEIT/ICT).

This report presents the results and conclusions from a study on assessing and promoting e-accessibility. The main aims of the study were to take stock of the extent of e-accessibility across the EU27 countries and some third countries, as well as the policy efforts that have emerged in this area. The focus was on e-accessibility in three key domains – web, telecoms and TV.</p>
