As part of the European Strategy for Data, the European Commission supports the creation of common European data spaces for the manufacturing sector to ensure enhanced access to privately held data, via industrial data platforms.
These data spaces will offer a secure and trusted environment for companies to share their data based upon voluntary agreements. In such context, the manufacturing sector can benefit from shared infrastructures, systems and processes for the development and continuous improvement of artificial intelligence systems with high-quality insights.
About the webinar
This webinar discussed how industrial-grade data spaces for specific value chains in the manufacturing sector could be defined. The focus was on dynamic asset management and maintenance by continuously monitoring and exchanging data on machine status, breakdowns, service orders, etc. Applications include predictive maintenance and maintenance management. End users are machine users, machine vendors, and maintenance service providers and remanufacturers. The webinar focused especially on the machine tool sector, and was supported by CECIMO and VDMA.
The webinar aimed to explore the best ways to call for future work on manufacturing data spaces with a focus on maintenance data and activities. Upcoming opportunities for Data spaces would enable companies in different roles (user, provider, service provider…) to interact with large amounts of maintenance-related data. Questions to be addressed include: What data is industry willing to share? What requirements do machine users have? What are the expectations from machine providers?
