The AI Office invites providers of general-purpose AI models to sign the General-Purpose AI Code of Practice (Code).

Signatories will be publicly listed on 1 August 2025, ahead of the entry into application of the AI Act’s obligations for providers of general-purpose AI models on 2 August 2025.

With their signatures, providers signal their intent to adhere to the Code of Practice. Providers who sign the Code will enjoy streamlined compliance with the obligations for general-purpose AI models in the AI Act. For signatories, the Commission will focus its enforcement on monitoring their adherence to the code, which offers greater predictability and reduced administrative burden.

Any provider of a general-purpose AI model may sign the code by completing the Signatory Form and sending it to EU-AIOFFICE-CODE-SIGNATURES@ec.europa.eu. The form should be signed by a person with sufficient authority to bind the provider to the General-Purpose Code of Practice (e.g. a senior executive).

The AI Office remains available for any (potential) provider who wishes to ask questions on the process of signing up to the Code at EU-AIOFFICE-CODE-SIGNATURES@ec.europa.eu.
