The 2024 Broadband Coverage Report provides a detailed assessment of broadband availability across 31 countries, comprising the EU27, Norway, Iceland, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. It examines the coverage of eleven key broadband technologies, including VDSL2 , DOCSIS, FTTP, 5G and Satellite, with data disaggregated at national and rural levels.
More than a technical overview, the report provides a structured analysis of year-on-year trends, cross-country comparisons, and Europe’s progress toward full Very High-Capacity Network (VHCN) coverage, encompassing both traditional fixed infrastructure and BEREC-defined VHCN indicators, which also consider specific mobile technologies.
Based on data collected as of June 2024, the report contributes to understanding:
- The comparative state of gigabit-capable infrastructure across countries
- The evolution of rural broadband availability
- The 5G coverage, including the 3.4–3.8 GHz band, in overall connectivity assessments
Complementing the Europe-wide analysis, individual country chapters provide national-level insights into connectivity coverage developments and network infrastructures expansion over time.
