Presentations from the Workshop on Sub-700 MHz band

During the workshop selected experts and the LS telcom/VVA project team working with the Commission  highlighted trends in DTT technology and viewing, 5G broadcast, the role of PSM and developments in PMSE.

The workshop is part of the study that the Commission launched in October 2021 to help it in fulfilling its reporting task under Article 7 of the Decision on the UHF band. The study should provide an overview of the latest trends and developments that are relevant to the use of the sub-700 MHz band, in particular it should analyse:

• the latest technological developments in the area of DTT broadcasting and estimation of future trends, focusing on 5G,
• the consumer behaviour evolution,
• the PSM mission requirements,
• spectrum needs and technology trends in PMSE, and
• international developments.

The objective of the workshop was to allow the study team, i.e., LS Telcom and VVA, to gather necessary evidence and information to improve the findings of the study. The workshop was structured into sessions corresponding to the five tasks of the study. Each session was opened by the study team outlining the first findings on a task followed by two presentations and ending by the Q&A session.
