MEDIA will be present at the Berlinale: EFF on sustainability, industry events and films

The 72nd edition of the annual Berlin International Film Festival will take place from 10 to 20 February 2022. Creative Europe MEDIA will once again be present at the festival with a virtual stand, a European Film Forum, side events and some MEDIA-supported films in competition.

The 72nd Berlin International Film Festival is resuming live screenings and premieres with limited attendance to 50% of the capacity, while the European Film Market will gather industry professionals online for the second consecutive year.

MEDIA events at the European Film Market in Berlinale

Europe MEDIA will be present in Berlin to engage with the audiovisual industry through various meetings. The main discussion will take place in the context of the European Film Forum, taking place on 14 February from 9.30am to 11am. The discussions will focus on the current cross-border cooperation to achieve a climate-neutral audiovisual sector.

Creative Europe MEDIA will also give an overview of the different support opportunities and highlight new calls and changes to existing schemes in a session titled ‘Changes to the Development Support in Creative Europe MEDIA'.

MEDIA-supported films

This year, seven films supported by MEDIA on their development will be presented at the festival. Notably, two of them are competing for the Golden Bear. The titles, per category, are:

MEDIA-supported initiatives

Berlinale Co-Production Market

The 18th Berlinale Co-Production Market (10-17 Feb) is a five-day event for about 600 international producers, sales agents, distributors as well as broadcasting and funding representatives who are active in international co-productions. The co-production market is supported by Creative Europe MEDIA via the access to markets support-scheme.

Berlinale Talents

200 outstanding creators from the fields of film and drama series are joining the Berlinale Talents, the annual summit and networking platform. The programme features master classes and panel discussions with top-notch experts, project labs and a variety of networking events. Berlinale Talents is supported by Creative Europe MEDIA via its training support-scheme.

European Shooting Stars

Ten promising young actors from across Europe have been selected to be part of the Shooting stars, the flagship programme of the European Film Promotion (EFP). They are presented to the film industry, public and international press during the Berlinale through a series of digital high profile meetings. Shooting stars is supported by Creative Europe MEDIA via the access to markets support-scheme.
