Roundtable with Civil Society Organisations on the implementation of the Digital Services Act

On 07 February 2024, DG CNECT hosted an online roundtable with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to discuss the ways in which those organisations can contribute to the implementation of the Digital Services Act (DSA).

During the meeting, DG CNECT gave an update on the Commission’s DSA enforcement activities and asked the participants about the ongoing and planned activities of their respective organisations. DG CNECT reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a regular dialogue with CSOs concerning DSA implementation. The discussion focused on possible CSO activities to support the collection of information and data in relation to DSA compliance, particularly in relation to the understanding of systemic risks referred to in Article 34 of the DSA.

DG CNECT provided information on an upcoming public consultation on draft Commission Guidelines for Providers of Very Large Online Platforms and Very Large Online Search Engines (VLOPs and VLOSEs) on mitigation of systemic risks for electoral processes, inviting the CSOs to participate. Finally, the participants shared observations of changes to services that the Commission designated as VLOPs and VLOSEs that were implemented since the DSA became applicable to those service.

DG CNECT intends to host regular online exchanges with CSOs to discuss concrete topics of relevance to the DSA implementation.
