Slovakia: O2 approaches full 5G population coverage after rapid rollout

Slovakia, 17 December 2025 – O2 Slovakia has expanded its 5G network to cover 99.76% of the population following the addition of 549 new sites in recent weeks. The rollout marks a significant milestone in the operator’s nationwide deployment and places its 5G coverage close to full population reach.

The operator attributed much of the recent expansion to the use of the 700 MHz spectrum band, which has enabled 5G services to be extended into rural and previously uncovered areas. This lower-frequency band is particularly suited to wide-area coverage and improved indoor reception.

Alongside network expansion, adoption of 5G-capable devices continues to rise. By the end of November 2025, 43.4% of devices active on O2 Slovakia’s network were compatible with 5G, indicating growing customer readiness to take advantage of next-generation mobile services.
