This year the European Week of Media Literacy will be opened by a two-day conference entitled Media Literacy in an ever-changing world: Integrate. Gather. Empower. which will take place in Zagreb, Croatia, from 31 March to 1 April 2020.
It is jointly organised by the European Commission, the Croatian Ministry of Culture and the Agency for Electronic Media, in partnership with the Croatian Audiovisual Centre.
The conference will include a number of panel discussions, presentations and workshops to celebrate the importance of media literacy and quality journalism. It intends to reinforce the existing relationships between media literacy professionals, the media industry, audiovisual regulators and public authorities.
Among other things, the first day will focus on elements relating to the role of media literacy in countering disinformation and enabling all citizens to navigate the news environment in a beneficial way. The second day of the conference will focus on exploring aspects of media regulation to ensure adequate and non-discriminatory findability for content of public interest.
