The 4th AIOTI Board meeting took place during the Internet of Things week in Lisbon. The members discussed a series of practical as well as strategic issues and reported on progress made in each of the working groups since the last Board meeting, one month ago.

In particular the Board of the Alliance for Internet of Things Innovation (AIOTI) decided that from now on Board members shall be appointed ad personam to the Board to improve the personal ties between them and to build trust. AIOTI also decided to create a communications team to assist in the external communication of the Alliance and to work on its visual identity.

In addition, the members discussed the role of the Alliance in relation to the implementation of the forthcoming projects of the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme on platforms for IoT and connected smart objects (ICT30) as well as in the preparation of the next work programme 2016-17.

The first assessment of the Alliance and the working groups were also on the agenda. The Board was highly contented with the efforts and ongoing discussions of the working groups and looks forward to receiving their first deliverables in early September.

Finally, the AIOTI Board members realized the high number of companies that applied to join the AIOTI and the great appeal of the Alliance. The Board agreed to keep the Alliance open to new members but also considered the need to adopt a strategic approach to membership and to prioritise certain start-ups or key industry partners.
