The European Commission has published a call for tenders to maintain and further develop the work of the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO). EDMO serves as a collaborative platform for fact-checkers, academics and researchers, actively links them with media organisations and media literacy experts, and provides support to policy makers. The call for tenders opened on 24 August and will run until 19 September 2022 16h00 CET.

The call aims at fostering the development of new educational materials and/or services built on concrete instances of disinformation, as well as to design methods to raise awareness about the techniques commonly used by malicious actors in order to create, distribute and amplify disinformation over the internet.
Tools and activities proposed should directly or indirectly benefit the target group of citizens of all ages lacking media literacy skills and in particular the skills needed to critically evaluate content accessed via social media.
On 20 April a Commission Decision was adopted on the financing of pilot projects and preparatory actions in the field of "Communications Networks, Content and Technology" and the adoption of the work programme for 2020.
