In our digital and interconnected society we need to ensure that all citizens have access to digital products and services while protecting their digital identities and privacy. For example, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the proposed ePrivacy Regulation aiming at improving online security, privacy and inclusion in the EU.
This session focused on digital privacy principles, requirements and challenges in a hyper-connected economy and society. Participants had also the chance to learn practical ways to tackle today's privacy and digital identity challenges. In particular, experts from the industry and the academia explained how privacy can be guaranteed in a hyper-connected and mobile economy and society as well as how our digital identity can be ensured in a digital world.

Background information
The CONNECT Univesity Summer School is the annual flagship activity of the so called CONNECT University. The CONNECT University is an initiative of the European Commission’s Directorate General on Communication Networks, Content and Technologies (DG CONNECT) which aims to inform about the latest digital trends and challenges which are highly linked with EU's relevant policies and serve as a platform for sharing knowledge through thematic discussions, workshops and seminars. It's main target audience is EU's Instiutions staff but very often the sessions are also open to the public via web-streaming or recorded videos.
