Neighbour Aware Virtual Infrastructure

A vehicular network allows cars to connect to each other and it creates a mobile network with a wide range for every participating car. However, efficient and reliable data dissemination is a particularly challenging task in the context of vehicular networks. This is due to the underlying properties of these networks, limited availability of network infrastructure and variable penetration rates for distinct communication technologies.
A novel approach for a mobile vehicular network is being developed and will be presented at the 81st Vehicular Technology Conference VTC 2015 by Dr Nitin Maslekar from NEC Laboratories Europe - partner in the EU FP7 funded TEAM project "Tomorrow's Elastic, Adaptive Mobility".

Dr. Maslekar will present a novel system and mechanism for information dissemination based on virtual infrastructure selection in combination with multiple communication technologies. The potential benefits are improved network utilization through the offload of traffic to the short-range communication network.
