On 9 January 2018 Vice-President Andrus Ansip, Commissioners Dimitris Avramopoulos, Věra Jourová, Julian King and Mariya Gabriel) met with high level representatives of 22 digital platforms. The aim of the meeting was to receive confirmation of the platforms' commitment to the implementation of the Communication and to ask them to make effective progress on the removal of illegal content. The meeting was held under Chatham House rules.
