Netherlands, Luxembourg and Belgium are European champions in Connectivity: check latest DESI indicators

The DESI Connectivity indicators measure the deployment of broadband infrastructure and its quality. The high-speed broadband coverage and take-up in Europe is growing steadily. As for 2016, 76% of European homes can access high-speed broadband (at least 30 Mbps) and over one third of them already subscribed to it. In Belgium for example, over 80% of fixed internet subscriptions are high-speed.

The Netherlands, Luxembourg and Belgium again score highest in connectivity in Europe measured by fixed broadband, mobile broadband, speed and affordability in 2016.

Belgium, Netherlands and Malta are champions in speed, calculated as the weighted average of the NGA coverage and subscriptions to fast broadband. In Belgium, 81.1% of fixed internet subscriptions are at least 30 Mbps.

The NGA coverage is increasing in the EU, with the average of 76% of households having possibility to connect to at least 30 Mbps. Malta, Belgium and Netherlands take the lead in this domain.
