Directive on Copyright in the Digital Single Market: Commission seeks the views of participants to the stakeholder dialogue on Article 17

Today the Commission has published a document aimed at finalising the stakeholder dialogue and setting out the Commission’s initial ideas for the guidance on Article 17 of the Copyright Directive. Article 17 introduces new rules for online content-sharing service providers that Member States will have to transpose by June 2021.

The dialogue gathered representatives of rightholders, online content-sharing service providers, consumers, users and fundamental rights organisations. Six meetings took place between October 2019 and February 2020. Participants are now invited to give their written views on the document (.pdf) published today by 10 September. The views gathered will feed into the preparation of the Commission’s guidance on the application of Article 17.
